Dr. Lucente spent his early years in Nebraska and relocated to Maryland with his family in early 1970. While in high school, he studied a few trades, which has been advantageous for the do-it-yourselfer in him. He received an Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy and went on to PCO. He emphasized geriatrics/low vision and ocular disease. After graduation, he joined an ophthalmology practice in Baltimore and later joined Bayshore Eyecare in Prince Frederick. He also became part of a special pilot program to provide comprehensive eye care to a geriatric population in a nursing home setting.

Dr. Lucente enjoys motorcycles, cars and numerous do-it-yourself projects. He also enjoys spending time with his wife, adult children and their family.

Dr. Susel is a native of Pennsylvania and received a B.S. degree in Nutritional Science from the Pennsylvania State University. She then went on to study optometry at the PCO and concentrated on contact lenses and pediatrics in addition to ocular disease.

In 1990, she relocated to Maryland with Dr. Lucente, and joined a very prominent ophthalmology practice in the Washington DC area and also extended her services to numerous long-term care/rehabilitation centers. She enjoys patients of an all ages and is especially fond of her patients in Calvert county. She is a member of the Maryland Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association, and the Ophthalmic Nutritional Society.

When not working with patients, Dr. Susel enjoys spending time with her husband, adult children and their family. She is also fond of working with animals, gardening and traveling.
